Ancestral seat of the Salian kings and emperors, childhood home of Emperor Konrad II.

Limburg on the Haardt. The oldest established building on the later "Linthberg" is a Celtic settlement. In the 9th century a castle was built by the Gaugrafen from the Salier family, who resided in Worms, which dominated the entrance to the Isenachtal. How the castle looked out is largely unknown. Konrad II, the later King and Emperor, will have spent part of his childhood and youth here. Born around 990, from 1024 King of the East Franconian Empire, 1026 King of Italy and 1033 King of Burgundy, Emperor of the HRR from 1027 until his gate in 1039.
