New Dahn rock castle around 1550

New Dahn rock castle around 1550
The castle was probably built shortly before 1240 on behalf of the Bishop of Speyer. The ministerial in charge was Heinrich von Dahn. Presumably burnt down during the War of the Four Lords in 1438 and then rebuilt, the castle was again badly damaged during the Peasants' War in 1525. However, as King Henry II of France stayed at the castle in 1552, it must have been thoroughly renovated again beforehand.

There are several different reconstructions of this castle, and I don't always agree with the various details. So here is my interpretation of the plans I have seen, pictures and an on-site visit.
